So. Something “about” me – huh? I think it’s a bit redundant since this blog is basically all about me; at least what I am thinking about, find amusing, interesting, maddening, what-have-you. But let’s give a quick overview:
- Woman in *post-mid-life* and retired from working outside the home
- Married for over 50 years (yes, I WAS a child bride, thanks for asking) to my best friend and constant companion
- 2 children, 9 grandchildren & (gasp!) 2 great-grandchildren
- Hail from New England and love it – except for the dark, gray, cold winters
- Long to live closer to the ocean than I do. The salt air and waves just clear my mind and soul.
- Inordinate fear of heights, speed, amusements rides, motion & flying (clearly a Sensory Integration problem that I’ve learned to live with by this point in life)
- I <heart> music. I am a little bit country and a little bit rock & roll. Folk & Americana are my mainstay genres. I have loved going to see LIVE music as much as possible but that is, unfortunately, slowing down as our generation slows down.
- Retirement has allowed me to have more time to pursue my interests and hobbies. I like to read, crochet, garden (veg & flowers), and dabble in a variety of handcrafts. I have varied interests in genealogy, history, cultural anthropology.
- I am a *foodie.* I LOVE good food, particularly ethnic foods from all over the world. Retirement has given me more time to explore and cook a lot more of these delights at home – and amass a huge selection of herbs and spices.
- I am passionate about social justice issues such as health care (universal), child welfare, poverty/economic injustice and LGBTQ rights
- I love animals – all kinds – but I am a “cat person” at heart. I currently do not have any pets due to my living situation, but if I had the chance, I’d probably be a “cat-lady.”
- Oh – dark chocolate only, thanks.
